If people want to plant trees to offset CO2 it is essential that they ensure that the trees being planted would not have been planted but for their financial contributions. It's no good paying for trees that would have been planted anyway. It is also essential that the organisation planting the trees owns the land on which they are planted in order to secure their long-term future.
