I love the World Cup, I can't remember ever missing one, so to boycott it would be really painful. If we can get enough people to sign this pledge then perhaps FIFA will put pressure on Qatar to change its laws and we can all enjoy a slave free World Cup.

You might be aware that the stadia and infrastructure for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is being built by workers exploited by the current labour laws in Qatar. I don't want to support modern day slavery. The power we have as football fans is as consumers, if we don't watch then advertisers won't pay. If the money dries up then action on this issue will happen.

This pledge is now closed, as its deadline has passed.

  • One of the other casualties in this whole infrastructure build-out:

  • I will be boycotting the Quatar 2022 world cup because of the way they treat the people who are building the infrastructure. However it will be no hardship for me because I hate football.

  • Shame on you FIFA, you in turn are supporting a system that has no respect for humanity. Your are lending the beautiful game to set of people that hate people. FIFA, you have the players speak of respect in the UEFA cup games...yet you allow the most radical people in the world host the World Cup??? This is called contradiction. What is wrong with you?

  • Slave labor isn't what football is about. No one should have to give their lives so that we can be entertained.

  • Quite agree, Veronica; it just emphasises today's immoral values when some footballers are paid £300,000 a week and workers on the 2022 world cup venue are treated so appallingly.

  • I'm living in Germany and I can't see celebrities like Beckenbauer on tv, who's saying that there is no employees working in bad condition(workers are dying). I guess he got a expensive perk for saying this.
In my opinion the most effective way to boycott or even cancel the world cup 2022 is, organising a group of famous players, who will agree to boycott the world cup as well. I hope that players aware of that they can have massive influence on fight against slavery by Qatar and corruption by Fifa.
