I've decided that teaching people how to knit will support my local yarn shop and the knitting industry at large. Thinking about it, I thought that if all of the other knitters I know also teach someone to knit we could maybe improve the economy just a little. We all know someone who always admires our handiwork, so put some needles in their hands and get knitting!
Maybe everyone you know already knits, teach them a new technique! For instance, my mom was already a knitter, a knitter who didn't knit socks. She was always asking me to knit socks, so I eventually gave her a sock kit for her birthday and what do you know, she's knitting socks like crazy. This of course means that she's also buying sock yarn. I think you see where this is going.
So teach someone you love how to knit, if only for the sheer thrill of sharing something you love.

So this would be a perfect time to teach her to crochet!
