"I will visit my MP personally, if I get swine flu, and ask him to take action against factory farming, the real cause of the problem. but only if 15 other people will promise to do the same if they are unlucky enough to get infected."

Swine flu originates where animals are kept in disgusting conditions. This creates a breeding ground for viruses, which then jump species.
I have had enough, they say it's too late now to confine this latest outbreak, all now depends on how deadly the virus turns out to be.
I am thinking how I can turn this mess into something positive. My instincts are to pledge to visit my MP if I do get ill and explain to him that he should take action to stop the real cause of swine flu - factory farming.
Now if enough people promise to do that, and then do their best to carry out that action if they are unfortunate enough to become ill, I figure that will make MPs sit up and take notice, and force them into being proactive.
Hopefully this latest outbreak may prove less harmful, at the time of writing the death toll is just over 150 and confined to Mexico. Whichever way it turns out, I think this kind of protest will prove effective, because it will force MPs to actually deal with the real cause. They have the powers, they write the laws, it's their duty to protect us. That is why we elect them.
Oh and don't feel sorry for them, they chose to represent people, and standing idly by while bad things happen is not a satisfactory option. Tell them something like "it's your responsibility and if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem."
You can always protest like this to other people involved, for example factory farm owners.
