More details
This meditation s recorded in Ang 1106 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. It takes away all feelings of separation from God and brings a profound sense of peace and security.
This meditation cuts through all darkness. It will give you a new start. It is the simplest kriya, but at the same time the hardest. It cuts through all barriers of the neurotic or psychotic inside-nature. When a person in a very bad state, techniques imposed from the outside will not work. The pressure has to be stimulated from within. The tragedy of life is when the subconscious releases garbage into the conscious mind. This kriya invokes the Kundalini to give you the necessary vitality and intuition to combat the negative effects of the subconscious mind.
The pledge is to commit to doing this meditation each day for 40 days (or more if you would like to continue!).

I am new to yoga and I made a pledge to do Sodarshan Chakra Kriya for 40 days.
After reading the instructions I tried doing it for first time today.
It was extremely tough for me to "Pump my stomach" while holding my breath.
I couldn't pump for even 15 times and It was hard for me to even hold my breadth that longer. I started with 5 min though.
Should i not count days untill I am able to pump my stomach while holding breadth ??
Also, it is specified that care should be taken to do this Kriya "RIGHT". Are there negative effects if not done correctly ?
regards
Preet
This meditation isn't a "beginner" meditation, but with some practice you'll get better. I think your naval center will get stronger and it will be easier to do. If you are committed to doing this and want to make it work, You could probably start out cutting the time in half for the number of naval pumps. (and when it get's easier go to the full number as originally taught)
Half Time - Hold the breath. Mentally chant "Wha Hay Guroo" 8 times. Pump the navel point 3 times with each repetition, once on "Wha", once on "Hay", and once on "Guroo" - for a total of 24 unbroken pumps.
The main things to do this correctly are having the eye focus at the tip of the nose, spine straight and naval pumping with mental recitation of Waehguru and proper sequence of breathing in through the left and out through the right nostril.
Hope this helps...
I really helped :)

Your blog is wonderful. I did not succeed to do Kriya 11 minutes per day for 40 days and frankly I was going to give up but upon reading your blog somehow I gathered the will and desire to continue. I suppose it will take me time to get to do it perfectly but I vow to persist.
Thank you so much,
Satnam,
