I usually have a bath, so whenever I have the luxury of a shower, it'll be hard to limit it to just four minutes. I got the water co. to fit a water meter and since then, we've been using the bath-water to flush the loo.
Suggestion - If you replace your shower-head with a new water-saving one, can you shower for an extra two minutes?

Hi Tim - thanks for your question.

- what I do is place the bucket in the shower over the plughole before I turn the shower on.
This means you catch the water as the shower warms up.

As I am showering I find there is enough room for both me and the bucket - with a 4 minute shower I find the bucket catches between 5 - 10 litres of water.

With this in mind I figure that if 50 people save 5 litres of water per day for the next 3 months this will be 21, 000 litres that can be reused - over a year this would be 84,000 litres.

If it's not a silly question, what are the practicalities of catching the overflow water in a bucket? Do you just stick a plug in the plughole and scoop up the water afterwards, or is there an obvious way to do it that I've missed?
