Further to the announcement today that the BBC has handed over coverage of half their races to BSkyB until 2018, the Guardian ran an article saying that the BBC did it to save approximately £30m per year, that the deal was worth £65m, and that the viewing figures for the British GP were roughly 5m.

My thought is therefore that if 5m of us commit to contributing £13 each (a total of £65m) to the BBC, we can keep what I believe is the best motorsport coverage ever seen on a free-to-air terrestrial broadcaster, for at least 2012 and 2013.
After that, who knows - but at least we can show Bernie that F1 is about us - the fans - and not lining his pockets with (yet more) gold...
