More details
Because 7,812 double-decker buses is the equivalent weight in plastic we'll throw away this Christmas (125,000 tonnes.)

Because there is a thriving and growing community of 'precyclers' who do this already... all year round. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/20...)

Because we have already reached the point when the earth's resources for the year are used up and we are now eating into the earth's stock of natural resources (23rd October, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jh...)

Because 333,333 trees will be used in the UK for Christmas cards.

Because the whole surface area of the Sicilian island of Pantelleria could be covered with the Christmas wrapping paper we will thow away (83 km2 to be exact!)

Because of all of these reasons, I want to lessen my footprint on this earth by vowing to limit the amount of plastic I buy needlessly.
