In an effort to quiet our minds and sweep away the accumulated debris and detritus left there by the constant exposure to media of one kind or another. I want us to experience life first-hand for a couple of weeks, rather than through the various filters we've become accustomed to using.

• Hello, I was ready to jump in and commit to this boycott, when I wondered if I could read my email at work. Unfortunately, we use this a lot. I would like a specific reason to stop watching tv, listening to radio, reading magazines....blahblahblah....please let me know if work related email is ok.

• I am happy to do this but I want to change the date - it needs to be the last week in august and the first in sept. I am on holliday then, I'm a web developer so it's impossible otherwise. Also, does standing in a field, messed up on the Isle of White listening to bands play at Bestival count as consuming media? I guess it kinda does...

• Does this include listening to ipod/mp3 player/record collection? obviously you wouldn't be able to listen to podcasts, but how far does the definition of 'media' go?

• Wow, avoiding any media at all is going to be tough. I can see it working if you're out in the wilderness camping for 2 weeks. Where are you going to stay?

• Just go to some really strict camp for a few weeks that should be easy, but doing that in general life would be so difficult unless you are planning to be like one of those Buddhist monks.
