The last time this occured in the UK was in 1979, when Prime Minister James Callaghan lost a vote of no confidence by a minority of one and a General Election ensued.

This campaign is not partisan. We need a General Election not because any particular party must form a Government, but because the current Government no longer has the full
confidence of the people of this country. An election will help focus minds and bring much needed change - to all parties, and to the entire parliamentary system.
