The idea here (I posted this to mysociety-na a couple of days ago) is to try to determine what the different categories or clusters of reasons for non-voting posted to NotApathetic are. My idea is a page to show two reasons side-by-side, and ask respondents how similar the two reasons are, on a very simple scale.
Once this has been done the information can be used to bootstrap an automated similarity search. With some hundreds of reasons posted, the number of pairs is astronomical, but a large enough human-classified sample should get us off the ground.
- volunteer my time and energy to support keeping the branch libraries open for Evanston residents.
- run at least 20 miles each week until April 5th,
- contribute to the effort, "Give-a-Book: Help a Child Learn,"
- donate $10 to Rep. Jenn Coffey and volunteer at least 5 hours of time to her 2010 re-election
