More details
It's well known that the Recording Industry Association of America has resorted to suing music fans that "steal" music via file-sharing networks. While Barsuk Records does not look to belong to this organization, I never received a response when I inquired to them, asking whether they were a member, and whether they would use any such dirty tactics in hunting down "pirates".

While Nada Surf and Barsuk Records may not have an appreciation for the value in being able to discover and download music via the Internet, I hope they can at least promise that they won't become trigger happy if they discover that some people are not purchasing copies of their music, but are downloading it. Speaking for my group of friends, I think it's safe to say that Nada Surf has tens of new fans, and has probably made a few hundred dollars, thanks to our discovering of Nada Surf via the Internet and file-sharing networks.
