More details
So, I've heard that failure to get an ID card, or damaging it will result in fines in their thousands or lengthy prison sentences.
My freedom is paramount, and I will hold up for as long as I can but if forced to do so, I sure as hell won't go down without one last defiant stand!
I will do everything in my power to make the appointment long and awkward for the interviewer/whoever, and it would be cool for some people to suggest more ideas for this.
Cheers.

  • I once had a protracted fight with the passport service about wearing my glasses, which I always wear, in my passport photo. It was an emergency passport and by rejecting my photo and not allowing me to have another one taken in the booth across the other side of the room without a new appointment, I didn't make the flight (to Australia). Queue a back and forth between me and the IPS involving me sending photos with Groucho Marx glasses and moustache, the back of my head with some plastic lips stuck to my hair, wearing some horse blinkers, putting an apple in my mouth like a roasted pig and one with a barcode stuck over my mouth. I really cracked myself up and anyway, had to do something to pass the time freed up by missing my Australian dates.

  • Oh, gutted about Australia but nice one with the passport photos. And I can't see any reason why smiling isn't allowed.

  • Generally just miss around in the interogation if you can be bothered to turn up for id card interogation that is ie as you wonder through the interogation center wonder when it was the last time they had a FIRE drill oops accidently set the fire alarm off ! ! ! It should be interesting for me as a Sikh with a turban and a long beard allmost down to my naval and after more than 35 years as an engineer using tools etc the skin on my fingers etc is worn and may not give a cood fingerprint. Remember it only needs enough people with the courage to stand up and REFUSE to comply and co-operate with ID cards AKA ghandi and his civil disobedience campaign to get the brits out of india and we THE PEOPLE can kill ID cards dead or make ID cards unworkable

  • Real bummer about the Oz trip matey. But 11/10 for the fun and games that followed. BTW, aint the driving licence and/or passport already an ID card?!?!? Back door, but an ID card nonetheless. I always find it hard to keep my eyes open and not pull a funny face when the camera is looking at me anyway. So with a % more effort I am sure any ID photo of me will look like a constipated Charles Hawtrey trying to pass a melon.
