Done it :-)

Switched to nPower Juice this morning, all seemed very painless.

Thanks to the originator of the pledge for motivating me.

...and the even better news is that I have persuaded a further three people to do the same at work, time to start working on the family ;-)

I'd love to sign up for green electricity but I live in France where the option doesn't exist (yet). But
I strongly encourage anyone thinking about it to go ahead.

I'm due to move house in a couple of weeks, and so will sign up with ecotricity for my electric. At the moment I don't have a gas supplier, and was wondering if there was such a thing as 'green gas'? Or who is the most environmentally/socially responsible gas supplier (if there is such a thing!).

USwitch (http://www.uswitch.com/Energy/) have a green energy option. Just enter your home and usage details and at the end click on the green button. It shows the top green electricity suppliers in order of green rating. I moved to Good Energy (http://www.good-energy.co.uk/) back when it was called unit[e] over 3 years ago. I'm pleased to see it's top of the ratings, and in my experience their customer service is great too.

Frank makes an interesting point, while lots of us have strong views about particular companies stance on alternative power sources. This pledge is about getting people signing up to green energy so it dosn't have to be Npower.

I've signed up already (to Good Energy)whether or not anyone else does. While the NPower plan is a good one, they're hardly a wholesome company in some other respects, being listed in The Good Shopping Guide as having connections with nuclear power and a poor pollution record.

I signed up to Ecotricity the month before last - after following a link from http://www.permaculture.org.uk/ . Same price as your local supplier (Southern Electric for me) so there's not a good reason not to!

I'd recommend Ecotricity - http://www.ecotricity.co.uk - who I've been using for about a year now.

If you want to shop around for your electricity, have a look at www.good-energy.co.uk. This is really worth doing; it'll only increase your annual bill by about £15, and you'll find yourself feeling an awful lot better about leaving the bathroom light on.
