Science matters. Using evidence to help make public decisions is critical to making sound, fair and effective public policy. Mark Henderson's book The Geek Manifesto (http://geekmanifesto.wordpress.com/) is about why science matters to governments and policy. Without science and evidence, our representatives cannot make good laws. Too often science is ignored or misused. This needs to change.
This pledge is to commit to sending one or more members of the 113th Congress of the United States a copy of this book along with a cover letter explaining why shortly after the session begins (January 3rd, 2013).
You can read more about this in the blog post: http://www.fancybeans.com/blog/2012/10/0...
There's also a google group you should join: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/...
Inside you'll find a link to a signup sheet to say which district or member of congress you are planning to send to (we will not know till after the election exactly who will be in each seat).
