— Cary March
Deadline to sign up by: 30th June 2006
52 people signed up (13 over target)
Country: United States
More details
If the pledge succeeds, $50 donations by individual pledge-signers will begin in July 2006 and continue through December 2006 (6 months). Donations can be made directly at the Free State Project website:
http://www.freestateproject.org/getinvol...
Like all volunteer organizations, the FSP needs the support of individuals - project participants & friends of the project - to succeed. Plan to help the FSP in the second half of 2006 by pledging to provide financial support to the organization. Your $50 monthly pledge becomes $2000 a month to the FSP when 39 other people sign this pledge.
C'mon Porcs, put your money where your hearts and minds are!

Comments on this pledge
Cary's right, we did promote promote the pledge at the Festival with a letter that all the attendees received, and some announcements along the way but that's just the beginning of the good news.
1: I walked around, with the help of a few others, and asked people to join the pledge and got 22 yesses... in one day. So not only are they real people, but I know them personally and know how to track them down. ;)
2: We've already received the money from one of them. Several others have told me they're going to pay the whole amount ($300) all at once. Others already made additional donations, and still other told me they would be happy to do so under certain circumstances.
3: The reason they're so excited to contribute to the project is because they're here seeing first hand how good and important this project is. Seeing is believing.
4: I put those names on here as I got them to record our success, but this isn't the only pledge that we've received commitments for this weekend. I don't know the number yet, but we have several new First 1000 signers from this weekend. Their reasons for signing are much the same (seeing is beliving). And, in a similar fashion, someone (not me, ironically) was personally recruiting all weekend for that pledge, so we've met those people face to face now.
So there's *lots* of good news, and lots more to come (keep an eye on the FSP website over the next couple of weeks).

* On our wonderful trip home from NH this week-end David and I discussed the Free State Project and our involvement at length. Having already signed for the first 1000, we felt very strongly about participating in this pledge as well. The Freedom Festival was a great success and meeting people face to face was invaluable. We are very excited and can't wait to make the move.
Thanks a million Rob for following through! And thanks to all of you who pledged and are following through. Lots of good stuff has been happening for the last few months and there's lots more to come! Read a summary at the FSP News and/or President's Corner on the FSP website!

To me 50$ per 6 months seems too much (I mean for my incoming) .. would be best something like 10$ for 12 months... it is less but I think more peole could accept it.
