  • This is a great idea! You could also try fair trade wines and peanuts and things!
If you can order online, you have the added advanatge that they deliver straight to your door! I can recommend traidcraft from personal experience...

  • *ALL* of the Coop's own-brand chocolate and coffee is Fair Trade. The Coop have also been the first to introduce many fair trade lines to the UK, including bananas.

Why only buy Fair Trade in July - buy it all year round!
  • By the way, I'm not sure if it is still the case, but certain Supermarkets used to charge more for Fairtrade products, not only passing more to the growers as required, but keeping more profit for themselves.

    Kinda missing the point, eh.

They may have been named and shamed out of this practice, but generally you'd be better off buying fairtrade from somewhere other than the profit-machines.

  • If nothing else, the relative scarcity of each product (and each, a personal vice!) will make my indulgences less frequent and, once I do find the product (and yes, I do know where I can find each one...), all the more satisfying!

  • I agree with Emily. Pledge not just for July, but the whole year.

  • Emily and Pat. I agree with you both - I do buy Fair Trade all through the year, but this pledge is not about just buying Fair Trade. It’s about ONLY BUYING Fair Trade. I for one will miss my occasional packet of Maltesers.

  • I work in an organisation with a fairtrade shop on the premises, of which I'm now taking shameless advantage. This is very, very bad for my waistline :)

Still, I'd love to be able to get hold of fairtrade bananas somewhere.
