More details
Earthlink has implemented a SiteFinder-like feature for its DNS servers, which many people have found very annoying for various reasons (see comments on blog posts). Yet Earthlink hasn't done anything to address these complaints, such as providing a non-broken DNS server.

The SiteFinder-like pages also feature ads. If this were truely a service to its customers, then it should not feature ads. These pages are not ones from random ad-supported webstie, they are from an ISP, which its customers pay for. These pages are supported by its subscriber's fee, so why are there ads on them?

There are better and less annoying ways of helping users with this problem. It could be a feature of the Earthlink-branded browser for instance.

If Earthlink's SiteFinder service is disabled, this pledge will be removed. If they provide a workaround, such as a standards-complaint DNS server, this pledge might be removed.

Please Earthlink, you've been a good ISP in the past. Be a good one now. I/We are giving you about 3 weeks, which is pretty generous compared to the paltry week other commenters on your blog are giving you.
