Why would anyone WANT a biometric ID? They're going to cost an absolute fortune, deliver very few if any tangible benefits, and change the relationship between state and citizen for the worse.
The main argument for ID cards seems to be:-
We must do something.
Implementing ID cards is doing something.
Therefore we must implement ID cards.
I need a massively more convincing argument before I'll agree to submit my fingerprints or DNA to a shonky database under the control of a government who've utterly lost my trust, let alone every single potential government of the future.rob, 13 years ago.
