  • Hi,Rebecca

I created a presentation for this pledge,I share it on slideshare.net
    http://www.slideshare.net/OliverDing/ple...

Would you mind spread it to all of signers?

Many thanks for your kindness and love to China.
  • Dear Rebecca,

Thank you very much for your generosity. Even though only 137 people pledged here so far, I am sure many many more have donated already or plan to donate soon. They did not pledge here because they did not know this web site, or they do not trust this web site, or they do not know how this web site works. (For example, if someone pledges here, does it mean that he or she can only donate to a few organizations specified by this web site?)

Hence, please do not take the low response rate as an indication that only few people have donated.

    Many thanks again!

  • To make this site more interesting, I will raise the stake. I will donate $5,000 more to Sichuan Earthquake relief (to a charity I choose) if 500 people (including those who already signed up) sign up here to donate at least US$20.

  • Thank you, dear Ms.Mackinnon, I am a Chinese working in America. I am going back to China for good this June. People in China are donating to the Sichuan earthquake area. I know some Chinese here in America have donated their money as well.
My heart is warmed when I know people care.
    Thank you very much!

  • Dear Oliver Ding,

Thanks for the suggestion. I do not know how to create a new pledge. Furthermore, my purpose was simply to attract 500 people quickly to this pledge site. I am sure many more than 50,000 people have already donated or are planning to donate soon.
Zhang, 9 years ago. Abusive? Report it!
  • Dear Zhang,

It is easy to create a new pledge, just click on the menu "start a pledge".

Try it, you could use pledgebank to do more things:)
  • In cooperation with China's Ministry of Civil Affairs, the ministry responsible for disaster relief in China, Half the Sky Foundation has created the HTS CHILDREN'S EARTHQUAKE FUND. You may make a donation via GlobalGiving (http://www.globalgiving.com/pr/2100/proj...) or directly through Half the Sky (http://www.halfthesky.org/).
  • Why you are looking for 500 people's support to motivate yourself to donate?

If you really want to help, just go ahead to donate!
  • Galvanised into action by twitter.com/jowyang and further by twitter.com/OliverDing. Will continue to do whatever I can to spread the word.
  • Bijun, Actually I already donated before I started the pledge. But I wanted to motivate as many more people as possible to donate along with me before I donate again. The intention is to increase the number of people who donate, beyond just myself. I think that makes sense... but if it doesn't for some reason, there is certainly no ill intent.

Meanwhile, thanks to everybody who has posted good wishes and who has signed up on this pledge!

    Warmly,
    Rebecca

  • bijun - the idea of having more people donate before rebecca does more is definitely noble - pledgebank is to:

"help people get things done, especially things that require several people. We think that the world needs such a service: lots of good things don't happen because there aren't enough organised people to do them."

Rebecca alone is just a fraction of us - but if we help support her we can do more for people in China :)
