In Bristol - a city which seems to be keen to take a lead on the environment - there exists no facility for the kerbside collection of plastic bottles for recycling, despite the fact that some of our neighbouring local authorities do provide this facility. This is leading to a sharp rise in street litter of plastic food and drinks packaging. Bristol needs to do more to retain its clean and green credentials.

  • I'd like Bristol Council to spend more time organising recycling rather than trying to sell off the parks to their property developer friends; Bristol will be a much better city.
  • Definitely, its shocking that the worst thing for the environment is not recycled when it could be - it could be said that where our food waste rots is irrelevant, because it decomposes... Although plastic is more costly to recycle, why not save money on that waste of time and spend it on recycling something that actually causes our environment harm, and doesn't go away!
  • If you've signed this pledge tell others what response you get from your councillor and if you have any links to other media, perhaps you could raise awareness of this issue there too. Letters in the Evening Post can also help to raise wider awareness.
