It's an arbitrary demand from a solicitor, and is therefore not compulsory at all. Sylvia Price would be much better off finding a good solicitor and challenging this head-on, and I'd happily contribute a tenner towards her legal fees for a defence, but to actually pay this without a defence is essentially to reward a demand for money with menaces. http://www.pledgebank.com/bpifine#comment_2318 I believe that justice would be best served by allowing Sylvia to go to prison.
