Demon seem to be blocking parts of the Internet Archive (www.archive.org).

From a Demon ISP connection a URL search at archive.org correctly gives a list of archived pages, but the links from these pages are all somehow munged to point to iwfwebfilter.thus.net even for legitimate content.

UK-FSN have just got back to me, confirming that they have a no-censorship policy. They've posted it as a notice on their front page: http://www.ukfsn.org/

Contrary to what is being reported, the IWF has not blocked the image. It is accesible via Wikipedia at http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/33/Virgin_Killer.jpg and thousands of other places on the net. Note that only the article discussing this vintage album cover sleeve on Wikipedia was blocked by the Blind Faith Zealots from Cambridge (UK), home of puritans.

Blocking this image runs c contrary to the freedom of information we expect from the Internet. People who find this image to disturbing should grow up or not look at it. I don’t think that this childish action by the IWF has any impact on Paedophiles and other perverts.

http://ukfsn.org/ offer a variety of ISP options. All their profit goes to support open source projects.

And as far as I know, they just provide you with an internet connection - no accompanying nanny.

thePhone.Coop hasn't censored it as far as I can tell (I've checked a few times today) and I've asked the candidates in the current election for their views. Already this year, tPC have promised not to use Phorm or a similar system. (My cooperative is agent AG471 if you'd like to thank me for telling you ;-)

Blimey. Censored for me using virgin media, get a blank page. Pretty scary, what's going to be censored next? I'm surprised it's even legal for virgin media to do this.

I'm currently at work, we have Plusnet here so I'm assuming it's blocked here but I feel it probably wouldn't be wise to check here...

You should report it as a technical problem. If they say its deliberate, ask them to send you the applicable parts of the terms and conditions from the contract. Don't accept them just referring you to find it yourself. We need to let the ISPs know that they will have to spend a lot of time justifying their actions if they fail to deliver the connectivity service they advertise to gain our business.

On PlusNet, only the image itself (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Virgin_Killer.jpg) is censored (not the thumbnail). Evidently it has to be a certain size to be kiddie porn or something.

This is the organisation that provides the (private) URL shitlists.

I will look into getting a list of censorship-free ISPs. However for now, please concentrate on getting as many people to sign this pledge as possible.

Our goal should be to ensure that NONE of the UK's ISPs are censoring our Internet. To change the minds of those that do, we need to show them that large numbers of us care about freedom of speech.

If you do choose to switch immediately, then please be sure to tell them why you are switching. Make a big fuss about it...

...then go and tell your friends about this pledge!
