Certain companies including Tesco and the Post Office have hinted that they will not employ people who do not have an ID card should they become law.
I do not support the use of ID cards and shall refuse to finance them. If large corporations, or even small companies will not say that they do not support the use of ID cards then they will simply not get any more of my business.
The main aim of this pledge is to put pressure on Tesco as they have suggested that all prospective employees will have to carry an ID card before they become compulsory. If all companies take this stance then it will only be the self employed that are in a position to refuse to apply for a card.
If enough people sign up then we can hurt them where they feel it most (in the wallet) and they will have to renounce Identity cards which will look bad for the government and show the true feeling about identity cards right across the country. Especially if Tesco is no longer Britain’s number one supermarket.
I have nothing agianst Tesco personally, it is just that they are the largest corporation that has actually suggested that they will use ID cards on a day to day basis. They are also a large enough company to stand any losses that this pledge may cause without doing too much damage.
