Comments on 'not buy a toy that can be chewed on, sucked on, or swallowed for any toddlers that has been manufactured in China… Or until there is significant evidence that controls have been put into place that prevent “accidental” lead contamination 100%. Yes, I want to see reports. I will find other gifts that won’t risk my children’s health… and I will inform my family and friends that potentially toxic toys will not be accepted either,'

Quite seriously, we can't control what China is doing, but we can control what comes into our own households. When even baby bibs are being recalled due to lead, medicines are made from plaster or worse, and every toy is suspect, what can we do?

I don't have any young children in the house anymore, but I have a grandchild on the way and a few children of friends. For the holidays, I am making gifts for them, possibly not the most exciting gifts they will receive: totebags, stockings, pillows, throws, and so on, sewn by me and filled with books or plush toys I made.

Well done for doing this. The 'oh we made a mistake and will fix it' doesn't wash. They used it because it was cheaper and they made more profit.

Women make up more than 50% of the public, and it is time to unite and take a stand to protect our families and make an effort to change the world. Personally, i also think it is important to get our children involved, as they are influenced by what we DO more than what we say. Kudos to whoever "got up off their butt to try and make a difference." I sincerely applaud you.....(and all the men and fathers that "make a difference" too) ...n
