More details
The sleepy Town Of Selkirk is a lovely place to live and work in, it is virtually crime free but this is being threatened by growing serious organised crime in the form of drug dealing plus violent disorderly conduct.

Selkirk police station is equipped and able to police this small town, however it is only open at certain times and is never full manned. Emergency police response comes from the neighbouring town of Galashiels.

This while very appreciated, is both tactically and ethically misguided.

Police response could be super swift in a genuine crisis if this station was manned and would not divert resources and attention needed at the more populated town of Galashiels.

Finally, this would send out a clear and serious message to organized criminals and drug dealers that there behaviour and poison is not tolerated in the town.

That by such a manned station they will be systematically sought out, arrested, brought before the courts and prosecuted with the intention of securing a conviction that will carry the heaviest possible sentence allowed by Scottish Law !

Please sign this pledge so that Selkirk will get a police station that every other British town has as an almost basic right.

So that the towns seniors may walk the streets in security and children can live without the luring of pathetic public poisoners.

Thank you and God Bless.

  • Is it worth asking you to produce some evidence, which is verifiable of the need for selkirk police station to be manned 24/7?

Do you have any kind of evidence to suggest this is a proposal that has community based support outwith this site?

  • I dont understand Why Selkirk Police Station is unmanned!
    Why was it built?

I know galashiels needs policing but it seems Selkirk always gets the crumbs from the table.

Law and order in a small Town can change from good to bad very fast.

By the time police arrive from Gala to attend incidents the incidents are over and the damage done.
Police precence is required or at least post a few photos of some officers around town if you cant be bothered to serve the Good folk of Selkirk personally.

Do we really want a return to the wee hard drinking borders towns of yesteryear?

The good folk of Selkirk have worked hard to make selkirk the town it is today.
can the Lothian and Borders police not do likewise?

You know the old saying 'when the Cats away the Mice will play'

Selkirk folk like Gala folk pay taxes can we have equal treatment please?

The good folk of Selkirk are doing their part can Lothian and Borders police do theirs?

We have doughnuts and Tea in Selkirk too.
