More details
Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) is a serious, often relapsing, debilitating illness, affecting up to 150,000 people in the UK. It has a huge impact on the lives of families and carers, with little, if any, support available to them. The cause of ME is still unknown, and no cure or effective treatment has yet been found.
There is a desperate need for funding for biomedical research into ME and, as the government isn't currently funding this, the money has to be raised from donations. This is especially important at the moment as there are a number of very positive lines of research going on but these can only continue if funding is available.
MERGE is one of the principal charities supporting biomedical research into ME; you can find out more about ME, MERGE and the work they are funding at www.meresearch.org.uk.
