Some distant memory of ancient Greek lessons reminds me that the etymology of the term includes some concept to do with the "people". If we cannot hold our own representatives to account, if we cannot examine their actions freely, then precisely how are we a democracy? Information is the life blood of a free society. For shame MPs! Smoke all you want, but leave us our freedoms!
