More details
MY PLEDGE: By achieving the desirable cooperation of the Newport Mardi Gras Carnival 2010 Krewe of Aphrodite and Krewe of Hermes (both established in 1981), aiming to create a Sympathetic Carnival linking Two compatible Cities: Newport & New Orleans [NWPT/NOLA], Love will conquer all to the benefit of mutual community services such as health care, housing, education and entertainment arts.
"If ever I cease to love, if ever I cease to love, may the Grand Duke Alexis ride a buffalo over Texas--if ever I cease to love" [i.e., The traditional New Orleanian Krewe of Rex Royal March & Anthem—since 1881]. I hope and trust the great Anthem of the Krewe of Rex in New Orleans will translate and transform itself into action and results here in Rhode Island, hereby, beginning immediately with my PLEDGE surrendering to love , hereby, and pledging the good auspices and charitable resources of my organization, La Fondation NEWPORTANTE/The NEWPORTANT Foundation [Not-for-Profit Corporation; founded 1981 in Newport, Rhode Island.] and, furthermore, dedicating myself individually, as one who has been conquered by a love which can conquer all [Amor Vincit Omnia is the city motto of Newport] to the mutual benefit of the rebirth of New Orleans, the Fleur de Lis Crown of the great State of Louisiana, crowning the Crescent City with a newly dawning Love, letting that wonderful Aurora of the South rise all bright and golden once again.
Thus, our Northern Mardi Gras Carnival in Newport on Fat Tuesday, February 16, 2009, shall constitute an eleven-day commemoration-- February 5-16, 2010—which shall, hereby, be conceived as an annual seasonal festivity, celebrated perpetually to the benefit of creatively collaborative inter-municipal community services and solidarity, so we two shall never, ever cease to love, making America and the World proud of us.
