• This is a shocking and indefensible piece of propaganda, and I will not pay a tax for the 'privilege' of being so blatantly lied to. I've had enough of the BBC's record for shameless state propaganda, they are about as independent of government as Graham Badman is of state schooling.
  
  The whole piece deserves to be taken apart, but in this brief comment just repeating the indefensible lie of home educated children being at twice the risk of being subject to a child protection plan, which has been totally demolished by eminent statisticians, is reason enough on its own. When government lies, it appears that there is nothing anyone can do to prevent the endless repetition of those lies, and that defines propaganda. The BBC is in breach of its charter thereby at this and so many other points. It will have to be an impressive apology, and a sea change for me to continue to pay this state propaganda tax.

• my daughter was autonomously 'educated' out of school until she was 10 and decided to choose to go to the local school. i provided a rich environment and was very involved with the local home ed groups. when she went to school it was clear to all that she was academically well ahead of the other children, with a much broader general knowledge and was a very able and driven independent learner. having not had her spirit compromised or crushed by an authoritarian education system, she was confident, alert and a good communicator. on a social level she was mature and advanced in comparison to her peers and able to speak to anyone, adult or child, with confidence as an equal. for us this was clear evidence that home education had served her well and had supported her in flowering in every possible way.
  
  although i happily would, we don't have a television, so it is not possible for us to withhold a license fee.
  
  it is clear that the child in the news piece was abused by her family.. and is clearly not an education issue.
  
  i wish success to all concerned in taking action on this issue..
