Is Objectivism gaining ground in our culture or not? Is our activism working or not? How can we know? We can do an annual survey! The respected polling company Zogby International will ask various questions as part of their regular survey on October 10, 2007. For $1,000 they will ask a statistically significant number of people (about 1,200 people) our question. It might be "Who is your favorite philosopher" or "Have you heard of Ayn Rand?" or "Have you heard of Atlas Shrugged?" Let's split the cost. If 8 people agree we each pay $125. If 10 people join in we each pay $100. So join me in this pledge and get other Ayn Rand fans to join also. The more people that join in, the lower the cost for all of us. Zogby must get a signed contract for this on Monday October 8, 2007 to make the 10/8 survey. If the pledge is successful you will be able to use your credit card to PayPal the money to my company Freestar Media, LLC which will gather the funds and send them with a contract to Zogby.

  • UPDATE: Our polling question is "Have you read the book Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand?". Pledge typo: "10/8 survey" should say 10/10 survey". Also, the contract I received from Zogby states they will survey 1,000 people (not 1,200) but if memory serves me right, from my college statistics class, I think 1,000 is enough. Translation: surveying only 1,000 people will tell you the truth about 300 million Americans with a high degree of accuracy.

    3. WAY TO SELF-FUND NEXT YEAR'S SURVEY. I might be able to fund next year's survey by selling this year's full poll report (filled with valuable demographic information about Atlas readers) to interested parties. This way I won't have to panhandle you again next year. (Objectivist-beggar doesn't go well.) I want to make sure everyone is ok with this idea. I realize that some might have an objection to this. However, it helps Freestar continue the work of spreading objectivism. Your donation provided the starter fuel to get the engine going. I couldn't have afforded $1,000 out of my own pocket right now. I'm tapped out making my movies. I can sell the demographic info for less than it would cost them to do themselves. So it's a win-win-win (they get info cheap--I fund next years poll--your dollars started a chain reaction of polling). Are you ok with this?
