Sodarshan Chakra Kriya

Meditation for focus and mental purification
(taught by Yogi Bhajan on December 1990)

Here is a meditation that makes use of prana to cleanse mental garbage and purify the mind. Of all the 20 types of yoga, including Kundalini yoga, this is the highest kriya. This is a very powerful meditation for prosperity. It will give you a new start. It is the simplest kriya, but at the same time the hardest. It cuts through all darkness and all barriers of the neurotic or psychotic nature. When a person is in a very bad state, techniques imposed form the outside will not work. The pressure has to be stimulated from within.

The tragedy of life is when the subconscious releases garbage into the conscious mind. This kriya invokes the Kundalini to give you the necessary vitality and intuition to combat the negative effects of the subconscious mind.

POSITION: Sit with a straight spine (either with legs crossed or sitting on a chair with feet flat on the ground) Eyes are focused at the tip of the
nose, or closed if you prefer.

MUDRA AND BREATH:
a) Block off the right nostril with the right thumb. Inhale slowly and deeply through the left nostril and hold the breath.
Mentally chant ‘Wahe Guru” 16 times, while pumping the navel point 3 times with each repetition (once on ”Waa”, once on ”hey”, and once on ”Guru”) for a total of 48 pumps.
b) Unblock the right nostril and use the right index or pinkie finger to block the left nostril. Exhale slowly and deeply through the right nostril. Continue, inhaling left nostril, exhaling right.

TO END: Inhale and hold 5-10 seconds. Exhale. Then stretch and shake the body for about 1 minute to circulate the energy.
TIME: Suggested length for this kriya is 31 or 62 minutes a day. The ideal is to start at 31 minutes, but you can begin with 11 minutes, then build up to 31, then 40, and eventually 62.

* There is no time, no place, no space, and no condition attached to this meditation.
Each garbage pit has its own time to clear. If you are going to clean your own garbage, you must estimate and clean it as fast as you can, or as slow as you want. You have to decide how much time you have to dean up your garbage pit.

COMMENTS: If you can do this meditation for 62 minutes to start with, then build up to the point where you can do it 2 1/2 hours a day (1/10 of the day), it will give you the following: ”Nao nidhi, athara sidhi,” which are the nine precious virtues and 18 occult powers. In these 27 total virtues of the world lies the entire universe.

When practiced for 2 1/2 hours every day, it will make you a perfect superhuman. It purifies the subconscious and takes care of the human life. It will make you extremely intuitive. It brings together all 27 facets of life and makes a human saintly, successful, and qualified. This meditation also gives one pranic power. This kriya never fails. It can give one inner happiness, and bring one to a state of ecstasy in life.

  • 0.) The beginning of this 1000 day challenge was on September 9th, 2014
    You can take this opportunity to grow into meditation.
    Read the introduction how to enter the world of meditation and then follow the steps below in your own time. Explicit explanations can be found from the top menu or categories and tags at the bottom of this sidebar.

    Introduction for beginners how to build it up:
    1.) Do 40 days of at least 3 minutes (every day)
    Start slow and don't overdo it in the beginning !

    1991 I did my first 40 days but never moved beyond them, meaning I meditated on and off since. The reason for my inconsistency was that I instantly did 2.5 hours, which brought up much to much subconscious stuff, but I did not realize that this was happening. So I would not recommend to follow my attempt to force quick enlightenment and instead to increase the meditation times exactly in the way I described them within this 1000 day plan.
  • 2.) extend the 40 days to 90 days of 3 min (whilst slowly building up to 10 minutes)
    90 days are the most difficult period - use it to slowly build up your time.
    It took me literally 20 years to realize that consistency is the key. Only when I started at 3 minutes again I was able to complete them in 2001 for the first time. Meanwhile I did build up the 3 minutes to 10 minutes - just to stay below the next level. The trick to save yourself those 20 years is not to build it up too quickly and stick to the time-frame of consolidating level by level of 120 days each first.

    3.) Increasing the 90 days to 120 days of 3-10 minutes
    3 minutes affect the electromagnetic field, the circulation, and the stability of the bloodJanuary 6th, 2015
    It took me an entire year to finally complete the 120 days in 2011 for the first time, because I failed a few times. Because I also have done higher levels within the last 4 years I usually do meditate significantly longer this (second) time around within this 1000 day challenge in order to very slowly further build up my practice.
  • 4.) 120 days of 11 minutes (whilst building up to 21 minutes)
    11 minutes begin to change the nerves and the glandular system.
    I did this in 2012. Yet again this took me an entire year to accomplish.

    5.) 120 days of 22 minutes (meanwhile building up to half an hour)
    22 minutes balance the three minds (positive, negative, and neutral) and they begin to work together

    6.) 120 days of 31 minutes – and increasing to 61 minutes
    31 minutes allow the glands, breath, and concentration to affect all the cells and rhythms of the body. It lets the psyche of the meditation affect the tattwas (elements) and all layers of the mind's projections.
    As above this took me a year to finally accomplish in 2013
  • 7.) 120 days of 62 min
    62 minutes change the gray matter of the brain. The subconscious and the outer projection are integrated.
    Since 2014 I work on this and it seems that it will take me until the end of pledgebank when I finally completed this.

    Next I will do following steps (within the 1000 day challenge) :
    8.) Building up the time to 149 minutes within 280 days (9-10months)
    Within 40 days of daily meditation: skin-cells change (aura, gestalt, protection); within 90 days blood cells (and emotions) change; after 120 days all cells including bone cells changed permanently. 1000 days of daily meditation transform a monkey into a saint.
  • 9.) 120 days of 2.5 hours (a tenth of the day)
    2,5 hours change the psyche in its co-relation with the surrounding magnetic field so that the subconscious mind is held firmly in the new pattern by the surrounding universal mind.

    By June 4th, 2017 (2.3 years to go) I will have completed this 1000 day challenge and hopefully have built up this meditation to 2.5 hours daily.


    10.)
    Thereafter I will contemplate whether I will extend the 2.5 hour meditation for 1000 days.
    Then I will truely know if this Kriya works and what it does.
